What do you feel about it?

These are actually promotions for a cause by the telco companies in making us aware of our environment.

One may initially feel sorry for the environment, may feel the urge to go green n eco etc.

Lets look into it in a more indifferent manner. Lets take them one by one.

1. Idea's urge to save paper, use mobile.

Go through the video once again if you want to, it gives you many ways to save paper. One can see browsing newspaper through mobile, giving autographs on a touchscreen, taking notes on a mobile(in a court), boarding passes in airports, university certificates, menus and orders in a hotel and what not?

The ad goes bang into the market and is a big hit. Though there are many filmy elements. One major flaw I felt was nobody uses a mobile to type in a court when one can have a desktop/laptop. Storage and transmitting could also be more spacious/faster in the latter case.

Agreed, as they are promoting their product, that is their gimmick. I'm not against the entertaining aspect of it.

Coming to more serious matter, who would implement such ideas? May be a few enthusiasts who got interested would make it a point in following the steps guided by the ad. Aged people would hardly feel the urge to type. They prefer hard copy paper than its counterpart. I don't see any long term implementations of it. On the other hand, these could be the advertisements of the mobile manufacturers and not of the service providers strictly speaking.

Lets hold it for a moment and discuss it after the second ad.

2. Aircel's urge to save the tigers of India.

Its a bit more serious than the previous ad. They ask us to involve in saving tigers. Specially Indian tigers. (Well, how can we save tigers that aren't in our country?) Wanna know more about it? Check it out here.

It has got three brand ambassadors. Cricketing star, M.S. Dhoni, Football captain, Bhaichung Bhutia and Tamil hero Suriya (Aircel is basically from TN).

Again, lemme list the positives here.

1. Effectively depicts the condition of our tigers.
2. Makes us think about Tigers as endangered species.
3. No filmy things in the ad. Thanks for that.

Now lemme tell you my opinion on this ad. Ultimately whatever a common man does, he cannot literally help in saving tigers. Blogging about it, speaking on it in meetings, sharing your thoughts with your friends... nothing is practically gonna help saving tigers. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me in this matter.

Forget everything, we cannot see a tiger except for zoos. Lively tigers are hard to search in jungles. Many of my treks n hiking have gone unfruitful to watch the predator in an open forest. (Not that normal person wishes to see tigers)

Whatever this ad is meant for, should reach the actual hunters of tigers. Not only the hunters of tiger alone, but all wild animals in general.

No 'Save wildlife campaign' helped to any extent in hunting down Veerappan, the elephant poacher. All we could wait for is to turn the minds of these poachers n hunters as well as their supporters on the good side.

Now to summarize everything discussed, its just a market gimmick for these telco providers to gain more publicity boasting themselves as eco-friendly. I'm not saying that they're always wrong. We do have truth on their side, but still I feel its just their marketing strategy. All I want to say is that because of these mobile operators, we have lost our sparrows from the urban areas. Not only sparrows but almost all birds. All we could see is a few crows here n there sparingly.

How many will turn in my side, if I say 'Stop using mobiles, save the sparrow. Lets do our bit'. Who will turn my side?

Or yet another agenda, 'Use less plastic, save the environment'?? How many will turn up? How many street cows have fallen sick/died just because of consuming plastic?

You might think I'm always cynic towards such things. Thats how I am.

Stray Dogs @ Bengalooru International Airport.

Well, was just watching TV while having my lunch today to stumble with this news on News 9.

It says -

Dogs are prevalent at the Bengalooru International Airport these days. Its below International standards to have stray dogs in an International Airports. Nobody is taking any action against this issue....

Well, I'm kinda inert on this issue. Lemme post my opinion later. First I'll write on what would be the opinion of people from different fields.

1. Corporates: Aah! There you have. Another infrastructure problem to the list. I dunno what this government is doing? No water, no electricity, traffic jams, on top of that this issue. To hell with this government.

2. PETA abiders: Whatever be the case, the dogs shouldn't be harmed in the process of evacuating them outa Airport. Dogs are also living beings just like us humans. We shouldn't ill-treat them.

3. Opposition party leaders: This is a serious issue and is a shame to the city. The government should solve the issue within 2 days lest the CM shall give his resignation.

4. Government: We shall take immediate action towards this issue and see through that this will not be an issue in future.

5. Corporation workers: ಈ ದರಿದ್ರ ನಾಯಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಜಾಗ ಸಿಗ್ಲಿಲ್ವಾ? ನಮ್ಗಿನ್ನೊಂದ್ ಕೆಲಸ ತಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಜಾಡ್ಸ್ ಒದೀರ್ಲಾ ಈ ಹಲ್ಕಟ್ ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ. ಅದಿನ್ನೆಷ್ಟ ಬೈಸ್ಕೊಬೇಕೋ? ಅದಿನ್ನೆಷ್ಟ ನಾಯ್ಗಳ ಹತ್ರ ಕಚ್ಚಿಸ್ಕೊಬೇಕೋ?
(Didnt these bastard dogs get any other place? Another idiotic task to us. To hell with these dogs and the supervisors.)

6. Footloosers: Is that an issue? Whats the problem if you have dogs in an airport? If we humans are allowed inside the airport, why not the dogs? Are they creating any problem?

7. Dogs: ತಗಳಪ್ಪ! ಈ ಏರ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ ಆಗೊಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಕಾದ್ದ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಇರ್ಲಿಲ್ವ? ಆಗ ಯಾವನೂ ಮಾತಾಡೋನೆ ಇರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ? ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಏರ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂತ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಾಡ್ಬಾರ್ದಂತ? ಈದ್ ಯಾವ್ ಊರ್ ನ್ಯಾಯನಪ್ಪಾ? ಈ ಏರ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆನೇ ನಾವ್ ಇಲ್ಲಿರ್ಲಿಲ್ವ?
(Take that! Didnt we lavishly roam around here and did whatever we liked here before? Now that the airport has come, Why shouldn't we roam around now? We're seniors when compared to this airport. Where on earth is Justice?)

What I say is that, such kinda news is broadcasted only when you are outa stock. Didn't you get any better news to telecast? If anybody finds it a nuisance to see dogs at BIA, they'll complain the authorities and it will be handled. Is it that big an issue? This is another reason why I hate media these days. Focusing on petty issues like this.

FYKI, I had been to the airport this July 1st, to see through my Uncle to US, I had never seen a dog anywhere in the airport. According to me, Only thing to worry about might be if they try biting us. When we humans are at majority in the airport, I don't think dogs would dare do that.

Throughout the telecast, no dog has been seen terrific. They are just there. Just like dignified gentleman, sitting near the corridor, walking near the parking lot. Never has any dog barked at any mortal. So, one can't call it a mess.

So, media, stop concentrating on such issues and look over more serious issues.

4-5 Days ago...

3:30 AM, Was in a deep slumber.

3:45 AM, the power was off. Thanks BESCOM...

3:50 AM, a dog in the neighborhood started barking like anything. It went on for 5 minutes... Surprisingly nobody, including its owner never bothered to stop it.

4:00 AM, I got bugged, got up, went to the balcony. Was mesmerized to recognize the rhythmic barking of the dog. It was barking in the same pitch, same tune etc...

Sandesh: Ey Pthu! Baay muchcho! Nettag malgakku bidalla! [Flippin Heck! Shut up! Won't you let us sleep in peace?]

the dog just stopped for a while, again started barking, but with a low pitch.

S: Muchchteeyo ilvo baayi? Raatri hottu en badkontu ninge roga? [Won't you shut up? What has struck you in the night?]

After two more rounds of scoldings, the dog, became silent. I came in and then I recognized that there was no power. Recollected that the PC was on, since I had left it to fetch the updates. Rushed towards the PC, shut it off... Went back to sleep. 10 minutes, the alarm beeped... I thought I slept the wrong time. Changed the alarm signal to a customized no sound file, went to sleep.

7:30 AM, I woke up, finished my praatah karma.

7:45 AM, I went to the house where the dog belonged, it was lying beside in a loathsome manner, I then asked,

S: Yaar mane naayi idu? [whose dog is this?]

Owner: Namde, yaake? [Ours, Why?]

S: Raatri ella bogaltittalla? nimg yaarigu echchra aaglillva? namm maneli ellargu echchra aaythu! ellargu nidre kaata aaytu. [It was barking all night long, didn't you guys notice? Everyone was awake in our home. Nobody had a sound sleep]

O: Oh! Saari! [Oh! Sorry!]

S: Innmelaadru sariyaag nodkolli. [Keep watching atleast from now on...]

I came home. Was reading newspaper. My dad noticed that there was a Thallo Gaadi [trolley] missing in the empty side beside our house which is right beside the highway. That trolley was belonging to the house owner I had just spoken to.

He went to them and enquired about it. That was when they knew it. They used to lock it everyday, but unfortunately, that day, they didnt. A robber had arrived and had taken away that trolley.

Things started falling into place in my mind about the dog's barking. Thanks for its superior hearing n sensing abilities...

I was waiting for the bus. At that time, you get a bus once in 10 minutes. Though the traffic will not reduce. I was disturbed by the movements of this dog. As predicted by i7, it saw a female dog on the other side of the road and was interested in doing things which i wish not to disclose here. It was waiting for an opportunity to cross the road.

It tried many a times but in vain. We humans have blocked the free movements of other living beings for our convenience. We've forgot that its even their world.

For my bad luck, I didn't get a bus after 10 minutes. Meanwhile the dog showed some courage in crossing the road, it went ahead. As perdicted by enidhi, A Tata Sumo was speeding at 70 kmph, on seeing this dog, he applied brakes. Good driver. Many just move over them. He just stopped 20 cm behind the dog which had also stopped. It ran back to this side of the road. Even the dogs are used to such situations.

After another 3 minutes, the road was relatively vacant, the dog was able to cross the road successfully. It stood on the other side of the road watchin at its Dovv! It started moving towards the female. The original Dovv of the female dog, sprang up from nowhere and started to chase the dog.

Our dog might be a new one in the locality. May be newly joined. Surprised by the attack, It started running, followed by the local dog. Both of them vanished below the flyover, while I saw a 402D, in the bus stop. Boarded it, came home.

Did our dog date with the female?? or was it chased outa the locality by the bully?? Even I dunno. Looking at the chase, I feel the second thing would have happened. Or did they become friends?? Dunno. It gave me a nice topic to blog. Hope it brought a smile on your face.

Monkey Testing / Mouse Testing

No this doesn't explain about the existing software testing mechanism "Monkey testing" or a new phenomenon like "Mouse Testing". =)

This is about the approach taken by scientists to experiment things that they encounter, invent or discover. Have a look at the below pics.

Just because that he is able to speak and think a bit more than the other species on earth (this is relative), Man assumes himself as a superior creature on this planet. How fair is it?

Was planning to blog something today and was searching for a topic when I saw my mother discussing about this issue with the rest.

Once anybody comes up with a new medicine to a disease that doesn't has a cure (also for those which have a cure, may be a costlier one!), they won't directly test it on a human but they use other species like monkey, mice, frog, cockroaches and sometimes rarely on other species too.

Not only this, even in Bio labs, we see students playing with cockroaches, and frogs to know their internal structure(wrong term to use. I do not know the right one). I never opted for Biology and thankfully skipped it. =)

I see attenders in lab, killing frogs that are alive and some students doing their dissection without giving them proper anasthaesia. Pathetic!!

Doesn't stop here. There are people who fish for fun. Also there are the so called stars who hunt animals @ wild life scantuaries like Black buck, Sambar et al. After doing all that they come on screen, play innocent roles and people who get moved away by their artificial acting, plead for them against the court asking for a bail or clearance from court. What for?

To make them know the pain the animals undergo, one should pluck any of their arms (or any organ for that matter) and make them suffer without medical care for sometime (One minute would be sufficient to know I guess).

There is one proverb in Kannada. "Bekkige Chellata, Ili ge praana sankata" translated to english yeilds, "It is playtime for the cat and a matter of life for the mouse".

I dont expect people to change reading this post but let them have some basic courtesy on these poor creatures who have equal rights to live on this ONE planet where we all live. We humans do not have any special rights to act upon them so cruelly without any feelings towards it. Animal life is always as precious as human life.

I'm not saying that be liberal to all monkeys, mice, cockroaches. They might sit on top of us in our houses. Take the necessary step when needed but not always. Apply mosquito repellants, lakshman rekha or whatever you do to stop cockroaches and similar thing to mice n rats. Killing them for your experimentation purposes is wrong is what I'm saying.
